About the Graduate Symposium

The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) Graduate Student Symposium is designed for graduate students (master’s-level and doctoral-level) from 12 STEM disciplines. The goal of the symposium is to:

  • Highlight doctoral students' research through oral presentations,
  • Build all graduate students' scientific networks with STEM and career professionals, and
  • Strengthen all graduate students' professional development skills

The symposium will be held November 14–15, 2023 (1.5 days) at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown prior to the official start of the ABRCMS conference.

Important Deadlines

  • Graduate Student Abstract Submission Opens: April 14
  • Graduate Student Travel Award Deadline: August 28
  • Graduate Student Abstract Submission Deadline: September 8
  • Graduate Student Networking Reception: November 15

All participants must be registered for the main ABRCMS conference. Please know that you must check the box (Wish to Attend Graduate Symposium) at the time of registering for the ABRCMS conference to reserve your space. The symposium is first come, first serve.

Don't miss your chance to be part of the ABRCMS Graduate Symposium and connect with peers, leading experts, faculty, and established researchers from a national audience who share your scientific interests.

  • Calling Doctoral-Level Graduate Students: The ABRCMS Graduate Symposium abstract submission site will open on April 14 for doctoral students (only) to submit an abstract for oral presentation.
  • Calling Master’s-Level Graduate Students: The ABRCMS Conference abstract site will open on April 14 for master-level graduate students to submit an abstract for poster presentation during the main ABRCMS conference.

Abstract Submissions are closed.  

Need Travel Funds to Attend?

ABRCMS is offering travel awards to help offset the costs of attending the conference.
