2010 ABRCMS Abstract Reviewer & Judge Intent Form

 

Volunteer to serve as a 2010 ABRCMS abstract reviewer and/or on-site presentation judge and interact with outstanding undergraduate students as they pursue their passion for the sciences.

To be eligible, prospective abstract reviewers and judges must satisfy the following two criteria:

  • Postdoctoral scientist, faculty member or program director, and
  • Active researcher in one of the ten scientific disciplines represented at the conference.   

Abstract Reviewer (pre-conference, online): September 16 - 20, 2010

  • As a reviewer, you will be assigned approximately 15 – 20 abstracts in your discipline. All abstracts are evaluated using common criteria and are either accepted or rejected. Abstracts for oral presentations are evaluated using a 5-point score. On September 16 you will receive access to the online review site. Scores must be entered into the online review site by Monday, September 20.
  • In appreciation of your contribution to the 2010 ABRCMS, abstract reviewers will receive a certificate of appreciation by mail after assignments have been completed.

Poster or Oral Presentation Judge (on-site): November 10 - 13, 2010

  • As a judge, you will be assigned approximately 3 poster or oral presentations per session. All presentations are evaluated using common criteria and indicators of success. By using the provided rubric, judges are asked to score each criterion on a scale of 1 to 5. Each presentation is assigned to three judges. An average of the three scores is calculated.
  • In appreciation of your contribution to the 2010 ABRCMS, judges will receive a certificate of appreciation and the option of having a press release sent to their university/institution after the conference.

 

Note: All conference attendees, including judges, must register and pay the appropriate fees to attend the conference.

Funding Available! First time ABRCMS judges willing to judge all poster and oral presentations are eligible for a travel subsidy. Interested and eligible individuals must submit the Travel Subsidy Application before completing this intent form. Returning judges willing to judge all poster and oral presentations are eligible for a full registration refund. Indicate your willingness below. ABRCMS staff will notify you by November 1 if you are eligible for the registration refund.
