PHOENIX, ARIZONA November 4 - 7, 2009 The state capitol of Arizona, Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the United States with a population of 1.42 million. Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, Arizona has 23 reservations representing 21 different Native American tribes. The recently opened Phoenix Convention Center, architecturally inspired by the Grand Canyon, is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix. With towering walls of tinted glass and an abundance of natural light and scenery, the convention center is a spectacular representation of the beautiful Southwestern state of Arizona. Phoenix was named after the mythical bird since the city was built on the site of the ruins of a former civilization. Phoenix evolved from a heritage rich in multi-cultural diversity. With 300 sun-filled days per year, an annual high temperature of 85 degrees and over 200 golf courses, Phoenix is the ideal place to host the 2009 ABRCMS.
