ABRCMS Judges' Travel Subsidy

ABRCMS recognizes the limitation of funding available to faculty and postdocs attending the conference and thus is providing additional funding to support faculty and postdocs who are active researchers and first time attendees willing to serve as judges for all poster and oral presentations at the conference. Subsidy provides one

conference registration (which includes all scheduled meals, conference materials, closing banquet and access to all sessions) and housing for 4 nights at the conference hotel. Awardees are
responsible for all travel related expenses.

Eligibility

Prospective applicants must satisfy the following four criteria:

  • First-time ABRCMS Judge, and
  • Postdoctoral scientist or faculty member, and
  • Active researcher in one of the twelve scientific disciplines represented at the conference, and
  • Available to judge all poster and oral sessions scheduled throughout the conference, November 7 - 10.

Application Deadline

Application deadline is September 28, 2012.

Applications must be submitted by email (rrodela@asmusa.org) or fax (202-403-3513) on or before September 28, 2012.

Application

Applications must be typed, handwritten applications will be returned.

Final Notification

The Judges’ Travel Subsidy program is competitive; notification letters will be emailed by October 12, 2012.

If awarded, ABRCMS staff will process your conference registration and reserve a room for you at the conference hotel. Postdoctoral scientist awardees will share rooms. Room assignments will be made based on demographic information collected during the registration process.

ABRCMS Funding for Returning Judges

Returning judges willing to judge all poster and oral presentations are eligible for a registration refund (up to $500). Refund will be issued after the completion of your judging assignments. Indicate your willingness on the online judging intent form. ABRCMS staff will notify you by November 1 if you are eligible for the registration refund.
